"After a two year mourning period, Solomon married a younger woman to take care of him in his old age. Solomon DEAL and Nancy PHELPS were married on 5 Nov 1866 in Catawaba County, North Carolina. In 1870 he was 80 and she was 30. (Born about 1821 she is listed in the 1870 census as age 30 (b. 1840). Nancy, widow of John Phelps, brought her two daughters into the marriage (1860 census, where she is listed as 21 ). The twenty-year difference remains unaccounted."
