  B.R. Sulgrove, "History of Indianapolis and Marion County, Indiana" (Philadelphia: L.H. Everts, 1884), 503-504: "John Moore [b. 1806]. The paternal grandfather [John Moore b. Abt. 1740] of Mr. [John] Moore [b.1806] emigrated when a young man from Scotland to Ireland where he married a Miss Reid and had [nine] children: John, William, Thomas, Christopher, James, Catherine (Mrs. William Humphrey), Eleanor (Mrs. Robert Roe), Peggy (Mrs. Jesse Roe), and Elizabeth (Mrs. Keyes). Mr. [John] Moore [b. Abt. 1740] resided in County Donegal, Ireland, where he was employed in the cultivation and improvement of a farm.
