![]() | Entrance to Pioneer Cemetery in Kanesville, Iowa After making the Atlantic voyage from England to New York, then crossing the United States until reaching Kanesville, Iowa, George Stratford died of typhoid fever and was buried somewhere near here, probably in one of the other cemeteries in the area. One of the guides at the Kanesville Tabernacle in Council Bluffs told us that the original burial records had been lost, possibly deliberately destroyed, after the Latter-day Saints left the area. Fairview Cemetery holds Mormon pioneer graves. | |
