On 19 Aug 1850, Ewing G. (34) & Lucinda (32) Jones lived in Wright Twp. (Greene) IN, where Ewing G. was a farmer and owned $1000 in real estate. They lived with their children Reuben R. (12), Ruth E. (9), Jonathan (7), Matilda A. (4), and twins Ewing G. and Lucinda (11 mos.). Reuben, Ruth, and Jonathan attended school within the year. Lucinda (the mother) was illiterate. Many of Ewing G.’s siblings lived nearby.
In HAZEL DELL TOWNSHIP, on the 26th of February 1878, in the northwest corner of the township, the people were shocked by the killing of DAVID ROBERTS by JONATHAN JONES. After a long and tedious trial, Jones was acquitted on the plea of emotional insanity caused by jealousy. (From POTT. CO. Genealogy Site)

From the Nonpareil on Thursday March 21, 1878
The bail bond to the amount of $10,000 in the case of Jonathan Jones was filed yesterday morning and the prisoner was released from custody. His bondsmen are E.G. Jones, J.G. Jones, Hardin Jones and Joseph Moss. Jonathan left last evening for his father's home in Rockford township.
