"THOMAS--The father of William Thomas came from Wales and died in the war with Great Britain. His wife's name was Emmet Evans. William Thomas lived in a large stone house near [the city of] Richmond, Virginia. He served for seven years under [General George] Washington in the Revolution, and at the close of the war married Margaret Marshall and immigrated to Lexington, Kentucky. In 1800 he moved to Butler County, Ohio, and in 1811 [he moved] to near Vincennes, [Knox County], Indiana and lived in a fort. In 1816 [he moved] to Vigo County and died there in 1828, and is buried at Prairie Creek, [Vigo County,] Indiana.
His children were: Joseph, m. Polly Chambers; Abijah, m. Nancy Hansborough; Elijah, m. Sarah Pound; William, probably unmarried; Rebecca, m. Samuel Chambers; Nancy, m. Joseph Liston; Emmett, m. James Pogue; Elizabeth, m. James Wilkins; and Polly, m. Joseph French.
