"Amanda Jane Lowe Swinger, daughter of Newton Wilson and Irene Correll Lowe, was born 21 November 1868 on a farm three miles northwest of Trimble and departed this life 23 January 1952 at her home on LaMotte Prairie at the age of 83 years, 2 months, and 2 days.
The early years of her life were spent on the farm of her parents near Trimble. She attended the Science Hall School. At an early age she became a member of the Trimble Church. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the Church of the Brethren on LaMotte Prairie where she was a faithful attendant as long as health permitted.
On 16 November 1890 she was united in marriage to Isaac Swinger of LaMotte Prairie. To this union three children were born, George Lester, Martha Irene, and Lura Alice. Her companion preceded her in death in December 1911. One daughter Lura Alice Deal died in November 1934. Surviving is the son George Lester, one daughter Mrs Martha Hyre of Palestine, two sisters, Mrs. Etta Correll of Trimble, Mrs. Essie Nichols of Boise, Idaho, one brother, Usher Lowe of Tilton, Illinois, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
"Mandy" as she was familiarly known by her many friends will be sadly missed in the home, church and the community in which she lived."
