    • A Tribute to Ella

Ella deserves some of the credit for this website in that it was her interest in family history and her willingness to share her knowledge that helped to nurture my own desire to share my parents' collection of photos, stories and genealogy. Many thanks to Ella and to the Adamson-Woodland families.

    Obituary for Ella Gregersen
    Obituary for Ella Gregersen
From the Salt Lake Tribune online, March 23-4, 2010

"Ella LaVere Gregersen 'Pure in heart'

"Ella LaVere Gregersen passed away peacefully on March 20, 2010. Ella was born on January 14, 1920 in Park City, Utah, to Ephraim and Zina Adamson. She graduated from Park City High School as salutatorian and student body president. Through her own means and hard work she received a bachelor's degree from Utah State Agricultural College majoring in physical education and music. Following graduation Ella joined the Red Cross during World War II serving as the recreation director on military bases in Alaska, (including the Aleutian Islands). After the war she was called to serve as a full-time missionary in Sweden. Upon completion of her mission she returned to Utah and taught school in Marysvale, UT. There she met her future husband while filling in as piano player in his band. They were married in the Manti Temple on July 17, 1950.

"Ella's skills covered a broad range of interests. She was a master at making quilts out of scraps of nothing, embroidered hundreds of pillow-cases for newlyweds, had a lifetime love of music and played the flute, piano, organ and sang. She loved sports and was an avid Utah Jazz fan. Ella had a delightful sense of humor along with a unique habit of punching guys on the arm and checking for chicken muscles! She had a gift for connecting with people from any avenue of life and set of an example of service to others throughout her life."

Ella suggested that her friends and family "pin a few jokes around the coffin" so she could "just lay inside there and laugh."
