Jews in Rezekne

Rezekne (Rus. Rezhitsa; Ger. Rositten) is a historic city in eastern Latvia's Latgale region. Jewish settlement began officially in 1851. By 1897, Jews made up a significant portion of the population with 6,478 individuals. Under the democratic Republic of Latvia (1918–34), Jewish life flourished with institutions like yeshivot and Hebrew/Yiddish schools.

During the Nazi occupation in 1941, nearly all Jews were murdered in nearby forests.
