- Mille Lacs County, MN Times: "Christine Moorlag. Funeral services for Christine Moorlag, 81, of Milaca, were held 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at the Christian Reformed Church in Pease with the Rev. David Smit officiating.
Music was by Dort Brink, Brittany Duggan and Brook Moes. Pallbearers were Jeremy Kragt, Sarah Wiechertjes, Brook Moes, Tom Patten, John Rumsey and Tyler Patten. Honorary pallbearers were Graham Moes, Stacy Patten, Nicolle Rumsey, John Wiechertjes, Shiloh Hand, Laura Rewa, Brittany Duggan, Marijke Moes and Christina Moorlag. Burial was in the Pease Cemetery. After battling cancer for several months, Christine died on Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006 at her home.
Christine Moorlag was born Aug. 22, 1924 to Ed and Sennie (Bouma) Kok on the family farm in Bogus Brook Township. She attended District 26 country school and then graduated from the Pease Christian School. As a young woman she worked for four years in a defense plant in Illinois. The day after Pearl Harbor, she was engaged to Harry Moorlag and they were married on Dec. 12, 1945 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church. They resided in Pease and Bock before purchasing their farm in Milo Township in 1950. They farmed until 1973 when Christine started working at the Elim Home in Milaca where she worked for 28 years. Christine was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Pease. Her hobbies included gardening and baking, but her passion in life was loving her family.
She is survived by her husband, Harry; daughters, Sandy (Jack) Wiechertjes of Holland, Mich., Karlinda (Garry) Moes of Murphys, Calif., Sharry (Terry) Kragt of Pease and Rhonda Moorlag of Princeton; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sadie (Ray) Tellinghuisen of Princeton and Adeline (Bernard) Nobel of Milaca; brother, John (Irene) Kok of Milaca; sister-in-law, Helen Kok of Milaca; also by many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Andrew."
