'81 yrs 9 mo 1 da, wife of Benjamin'
Cemetery notes and/or description: Lick Creek Cemetery (a.k.a. Blackwell Cemetery) was just south of the city of Indianapolis in Beech Grove, Marion County, Indiana, on Main St and Churchman Ave. It is now the Sarah T. Bolton Park.
The cemetery had fallen into disuse and then in a bad condition, with most of the stones being either broken wood or slate stones and had become overgrown. The cemetery had also been vandalized many times.
At the time of the sale, the headstones were removed, the bodies re-interned to an unknown location, and the area was turned into a park in hopes of 'cleaning up the image of the area.' A monument was added to the park with a list of names compiled by both the manual transcription efforts of a unknown person and information supplied to the Beech Grove Historical Society."
