"Zimmerman/Carpenter Families. These are believed to be among the passengers on the 'Pink Plaisance,' [a ship that arrived] at Philadelphia 21 Sep 1832. Christian, Jacob, Hans/John, Peter, Hans Ulrich/Wilhelm, & Bostian Zimmerman/Carpenter: Traditionally, these families are all related, but the exact relationship has not been proven."

- Eaker, pp. 97-98:
"Hans/John Zimmerman/Carpenter received a land grant on 26 Nov 1757 in Anson county, NC for 285 A. on the south side of the South Fork river and on Beaverdam Creek. While in Pennsylvania, Hans accumulated considerable land {and debts]. . . . In the 1750s . . . the Lancaster County sherrif sold his and at auction. . . .
While in North Carolina, Hans did become in some lawsuits with neighbors. . . . In 1772, he came into Tryon County Court to be naturalized. In the 1780s, he deeded his homeplace tract to his only proven son, Johannes Zimmerman/Carpenter. . . ."
