04 - Old Camberwell Cemetery Register from 1880s Visited the office Monday, June 9. We were allowed to photograph entries in the large old leather ledgers. The owner of this plot was Charles Parker, son-in-law of Matilda Penrose. He paid £3 for the unconsecrated plot. (£5 for a Church of England consecrated plot.)
According to Charles W. Penrose Diary he visited his mother's grave site #10400 in the Old Camberwell Cemetery. According to the cemetery records Charles Parker owned the site and he is buried there along with his wife Matilda Eilza Penrose and Charles' and her mother Matilda Simms Penrose. The cemetery records said there was a marker on the grave. There had been floods in the area and either the marker is under mud or was washed away.
