- William was identified with Salina's business community until his death. Before founding the Butzer [Meat] Packing Co in 1901, he owned a retail meat market, The Home Meat Market, which also carried a stock of groceries. Butzer Packing Co, producers of Sunflower Brand products, was a Salina business for 38 years from 1901 to 1939.
Banfield Brothers Packing Co and Beverly Packing Co used the former Butzer facilities for several years, but the building currently stands unoccupied west of the North Broadway overpass. The Butzer home was at 420 S Santa Fe. This location is now part of Asbury Hospital, The Butzer home being moved to make room for the hospital.
