"Both William and Diannah are buried in a corn field on the Bartley Farm (Formerly an Ellis Farm), Harrison County, near the old Goshen Cemetery. The graves are located in the Southwest ? section 17, one mile west of Old Goshen Cemetery, Township 5 South, Range 4 East, Northwest of Laconia, Indiana, Boone Township. In 1840, William and Diannah, Samuel and Emily Ludlow Ellis, Isaac S. and Mary Bartley Ellis lived next to Elizabeth Ellis and her husband, Jeremiah Taylor Woods III in Laconia, Indiana. 1840 Census shows five male children and two female children living with Diannah and William in Boone Township, Harison County, Indiana It appears William and Diannah moved to Harrison County, Indiana in 1820-1822.
Willliam wrote his will on 19 Oct 1840 and it was recorded 20 Feb 1843 in Harrison Co., IN. It reads:
'In the name of God Amen. I, William Ellis of Boon Township, Harrison County State of Indiana being of sound mind though weak of body do hereby declare this to be my last will and testament revoking all other & former wills. Item 1st I give & bequeath to my son Isreal Ellis after the payment of my just debts & funeral expenses all that farm of land on which I now live together with all my personal property consisting of all my stock of whatsoever kind bonds & notes, household & kitchen furniture, farming utensils & etc. Item 2nd The first item is bequeathed to my son Isreal on condition that he remains with & supports myself & his mother during our natural lifetime. Item 3rd To my daughter Rachel Barnett I give & bequeath fifty dollars. Item 4th To my son Thomas Ellis I give and bequeath fifty dollars. Item 5th To my son Isaac S. Ellis I give and bequeath one hundred dollars. Item 6th I give and bequeath to my son Saml Ellis one hundred dollars. Item 7th I give and bequeath to my daughter Elizabeth Woods one hundred dollars. Item 8th I give and bequeath to my son John Ellis one hundred dollars. Item 9th I give and bequeath to my son Noah one hundred dollars making in all six hundred dollars which I desire to be paid after the following manner to wit: one third to be paid in one year after my decease, one third the year after & one third in the year after that and I appoint and constitute Jeremiah Woods as executor of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and forty.
