"In the name of God. Amen. I John Bost, of the county of Mecklenburg in the Province of North Carolina being sick and weak in health of body, but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God, and calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed of all men born to die: do make and ordain this my last will and testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend existence, nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall assume the same again by the Mighty power of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise, and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

I give and bequeath to Susannah, my well beloved wife her maintenance out of the place and her possession in the house, her bed and spinning wheel, all besides her lawful share namely, the third, and also I give to my two youngest sons my planting (?) with all my lands, tenements, and privileges with a wagon and plows and harrow freely to possessed by them, Jacob and George. K And George is to have the old place where the building are on with half the land and Jacob is to have the upper part of the land and all the land is to be valued to them by three freeholders and the two are to go equal shares of the land and tenements and they to fall in shares of the moveable. Secondly, I give to y three youngest daughters, Dorothy, Christina, and Margaret each of them one sow, the choice of the stock, than to come in equal shares of the moveable effects.

Also them that are married are to stand in equal shares of the moveable effects without and any deduction to be made of any of their marriage gifts.

And whom I likewise constitute (?), make and ordain, these my true and trusty friends, Mark House and Michael Moose as Executors for my state former testaments, wills, legassies, bequest, and executors by me in any wise before named, willed and bequeathed. Ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this 3rd day of September in the year of our Lord 1777.

Signed, sealed, published, pronounced, and declared by the said John Bost as his last will and Testament in the present of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other hereto inscribed our names."
